Today, I thought I should talk about my amazing mini week, Infectious Diseases. Mini Week takews place over a series of 3 days, were everyone choses a group they would like to be in. As I just said, I was in the Infectious Diseases mini week. On the first day, we took the train to the Mutter Museum. There was a wide range of different models and artifacts, that were affected by diseases. One of the most intresting that we saw was Greengan. (I think thats how you spell it...) It is a deathly disease that turns your skin black. But, after you skin does turn a bad shade of gray, you would have to get it amputated, and that can sometimes lead to too much blood loss... Another cool thing that we saw was the corset exhibet. We were shown women's skeletons, and how their rib cage was drawn in too tightly, it could couse short of breath, and heart attacks. The other stuff, like the exhibet on 2 siamese twins. We saw a model of what their bodies looked like. The tour guide told us about how they needed eachother to live, because the blood circulation was going through each of their bodies. So, when one of them died the other would die within 1 hour, because the living twin would not be getting their blood back from the dead brother.(TRAGIC) I have to go to class now, but I will keep you posted about the other days of my amazing mini week!
